Racehorse
Charlton Boy was foaled in 1968 and was by Smokey Eyes out of the
mare Miss Copley (by Makapura) and bought by his trainer Tom Dawson
as a yearling for just $4750.
His
main wins were in the QTC
Sires Produce, the Queensland
Guineas, the Delaney Quality Handicap (now BTC
Cup), and the 1974 Doomben
10000.
He
also won a Tramway
Handicap in Sydney beating the well performed Latin Knight.
After
racing he was, for a short while, a police horse in Brisbane before
his final retirement to Bundaberg in Queensland.
