Lover racehorse Stradbroke Handicap winner
Daybreak
Lover was born in 1980 having been sired by Namnan from
the mare Rising Sun and was trained by the late Danny
Duke.
He
won four races a s a two year old from 1000 to 1200 metres,
three as a three year old from 1010m to 1400 metres, the
1400 metre win being the 1984 Stradbroke Handicap and
then one as a four year old which just happened to be
the Lightning at Eagle Farm
Daybreak
Lover won two feature races as a five year old and what
two races they were - one being a second Lightning at
Eagle Farm and his second Stradbroke Handicap in 1986
in the record time of 1.21.0.
He
also ran second in the Doomben 10000 behind Between Ourselves.
His
one win in Sydney as a two year old saw him win the Todman
Slipper Trial from Sir Dapper and was rather unlucky in
the Golden Slipper of that year.
Overall,
Daybreak Lover had 40 starts for 11 wins, 6 seconds and
a third and total prize money of $542600.
Retired
as a five year old he went on to stand at stud until 2005
producing 435 foals.
Some
of his black type race winning progeny included Tis Love,
Fast Talker and Morning Lover.
Daybreak
Lover died at the end of 2006.
