Horse racing winners by age

Here are some interesting statistics that you may wish to consider in your approach to establishing patterns of predictability.In the two years to July 3, 2010 there were 3936 races on metropolitan race tracks in Australia.

It is interesting to note the dramatic fall off in winners once they get past 6 years old.

Australia wide, 7 year olds won just 196 metro races in the two years or 4.97%

Australia wide, 8 year olds (and older) won just 107 races or 2.71%.
(This figure was boosted by a large number in South Australia - ask yourself why!)

These are significant percentages.
