Horse racing statistics by last start distance

Here are some interesting statistics that you may wish to consider in your approach to establishing patterns of predictability.

In the two years to July 3, 2010 there were 3936 races on metropolitan race tracks in Australia.

A large percentage of these races were won by horses whose last start distance was within 200 metres of today's distance.

These are significant percentages.
