Gleam was foaled in 1970 and was by Todman out of the
mare New Bid (by Wilkes)
In
a stellar 1973, he won the
Blue Diamond Stakes, Maribyrnong
Plate and Debutante Stakes in his two year old season.
He
was sent to Sydney as an unbeaten star for the Golden
Slipper but was beaten 15 lengths in a lead up race
and was sent back to Victoria.
He
was retired to stud with good success.
