Place betting research 2010

(Hallmark Place Betting System)

Here are the rules for a place betting system we devised and tested from November 2009 to January 2010.

Overall: 49 selections for 15 winners (31%) at average price of just under $3. There were 37 place getters or about a 76% strike rate.

We abandoned the test at the end of January 2010 as we didn't feel it produced enough selections in the space of time we tested it for.

The rules were these:

Consider any metropolitan meeting, Saturday, mid week or night time meeting.

Do not consider races in Tasmania or Northern Territory.

Consider only those horses handicapped in the first four lines of weight from # 1 down in handicap races.

In WFA and set weight races consider all horses.

Eliminate any horse NOT drawn in barriers 1 to 5 ( pre scratchings)

Eliminate any of these horses that did NOT start from wider than barrier ten at their previous start. ( pre scratchings)

Eliminate any runner that didn't start in the last 21 days.

Eliminate any runner 7 or older.

Eliminate any runner longer than $4.90 with five minutes to go in the betting.
