Polo Prince race horsePolo Prince was foaled in New Zealand in 1958 and was by Marco Polo out of the mare Soueast (by Ruthless)

In front of a crowd of 85103 people the six year old won 1964 Melbourne Cup by just over a length at 12/1 carrying 8 stone 3 pounds and ridden by New Zealand jockey Ron Taylor.

HIs win at 12/1 was not a good result for bookmakers as he had been backed from over 20/1 on Cup eve.
