Pride Of Egypt race horsePride Of Egypt was foaled in 1951 and was by Nilo out of the mare Civic Pride (by Ajax)

The interestingly named Pride Of Egypt was actually bred by L B Israel and won the 1954 VRC Derby and St Leger and AJC St Leger and Rosehill Guineas and the 1954 Hobartville Stakes.

He is one of the longest priced horses to win a feature race, one of the shortest priced to get beaten in a Group 1 race and one of the shortest ever to win a feature race.

He won the Hobartville at 50/1, got beaten at 6/1 on in the QTC Derby when second to The Wash and won at 25/1 on ($1.04) when he won the AJC St Leger.

He was then sent to race in the USA and died there in 1968.
