Reckless
was foaled in 1970 and was by Better Boy out of the mare
Impulsive (by Landau)
He
became the only horse ever to win the Sydney
Cup, Adelaide
Cup and Brisbane
Cup in one season (1977).
He
also won the Hotham Handicap in 1976 and started twice
in the Melbourne Cup for a second and a fourth.
He
became a crowd favourite, being trained by Tommy Woodcock,
strapper to the immortal Phar
Lap.
After
his racing concluded, he stood at stud (Macroom Lodge,
Allansford, Victoria) and sired many winners.
Reckless
died in 1986.
