Zip was foaled in 1976 and was by Zephyr Bay from the
New Zealand mare Corso.
Trained
by Eric Kirwan, he won the AJC Sires Produce, the QTC
Sires Produce and the QTC Marlboro Stakes (now the T J
Smith Classic), all Group 1 races among others.
As
a two year old he had 9 starts for 5 wins and as a three
year old he won 4 from 9, including the Queensland Guineas
before going to Sydney and winning the Randwick Anniversary
Stakes.
In
his career Zephyr Zip had 18 starts fro 9 wins, 4 seconds
and 2 thirds for a career total prize money of $145,450.
He
then was sent to stud.
