THE AGE OLD "GIVE IT A TICK" SYSTEM
This
system has been around since Noah played full back for Jerusalem
and, in fairness, is not a bad starting point (or finishing
point if you are short of time).
Using
a good form guide, assess each horse on the following merit
questionss. Give it a tick for every yes answer. The horse
with the most ticks is the selection. Try this for fun -
you'll be amazed at how accurate it can be.
1)
Has the horse won within 100 metres of todays distance?
2)
Has the horse won at the track it is racing at today?
3)
Did the horse win its last race or finish within 1.5 lengths
of the winner?
4)
Is the horse less than 7 years old and had no more than
20 careeer starts?
5)
Was the horse's last start less than (and including) 28
days ago?
6)
Is the horse trained by a Top 5 trainer in the State?
7)
Is the horse being ridden by a Top 5 jockey in the State/
other State (metro) or a top 8 jockey at the track (if a
non metro meeting)?
8)
Is the distance of today's race is between 800 and 1550
metres AND the contender drawn in barriers 1 - 7?
9)
Is the horse one of the top 6 weighted horses in the race?
10)
Is the horse number 1 and weighted between 1 and 2 kilos
above the weight (pre allowances) of horse number 2?
11)
Is the horse carrying within 1 kg of the weight it carried
last start? (pre allowances)
12)
Did the horse place at its last start AND is being ridden
today by the same jockey?
13)
Is the horse racing today in a field of less than 16 runners
AND priced at less than $10?
14)
If the track today is slow or heavy, has the horse previously
been placed "in the wet"?
