This is a really interesting and profitable little idea developed and tested by us from the beginning of February 2009 to the end of March 2009.

BUT NOTE VERY WELL - this is a slow and steady accumulating method - not a get rich tomorrow scheme!

Our research shows that between February 8, 2009 (the day we commenced the project) through until March 30 2009, there were 504 laying opportunities identified - unambiguous, clear cut, no second guessing opportunities!

Why 504 lays? Our target was 500 to get a solid overall view of this method's effectiveness and be confident of its long term success.

Of these 504 laying opportunities, 379 of them subsequently did not win their race. Put another way, that's a 75.19% success rate in identifying SHORT PRICED HORSES that don't win.

Short priced? Yes - the longest winner we would have had to pay out on in nearly two months was priced at $4.90 on Unitab (using Unitab divs as a yardstick).

In fact, many many losers were odds on and had all the odds stacked against them so the punters who were happy to lay the odds on were taking the exactly wrong course of action. By concentrating on laying SHORT priced horses and retaining a successful strike rate of 75%, we're sure you can see the opportunities here for investment.

We can only quote you TAB dividend comparisons here because, if you are laying horses on Betfair, there is no absolute price that can be quoted as "odds given" unless you are physically doing it yourself and offering the odds.

In our calculations, assuming you have average laying skills, we are being very generous and estimating a constant payout of a flat 5% above Unitab SP to get a sound idea of the profitability of this method.

These are our "HEADLINE" results:

•  504 laying opportunities identified (7.2.09 to 30.3.09)

•  379 losers laid

•  a success strike rate of 75.19%

•
On a flat stake basis it means 504 units in - 433.4 units out

Now this equates to a raw profit on turnover of 14% - remember, that is FLAT STAKES laying.

If you were reasonably able to lay these at 5% above the Unitab SP it would mean the same 504 units in but about 460 units out, or, a safe and conservative profit on turnover of about 9%. It may even be a more attractive proposition than that if you are using the "HOME State" TAB as the benchmark - we haven't had the hours to run that data check. We only used Unitab as the benchmark.

The rules of "selection" for these laying propositions are easy, simple and completely unambiguous. Once you identify them, it is up to you at what price you lay them. Naturally, the lower the price you are offering, the better return you will get - that bit IS up to you.
