There’s been a “system” written about
quite often on a popular Australian forum for some time
regarding a place betting system that depends on the
approximate dividends and theirrelation
to the approximate win dividend. The rules as outlined
on this forum were:
Qualifies
for a place bet if:-
win dividend is less than $2.00 and place dividend is
$1.20 or better
win dividend is $2.00 to $2.90 and place dividend is
50% plus 30 cents or more
win dividend is $3.00 to $3.90 and place dividend is
50% plus 20 cents or more
win dividend is $4.00 to $4.90 and place dividend is
50% plus 10 cents or more
win dividend is $5.00 and place dividend is $2.50 or
better
The logic of this quite interesting and seems in place.
It means everyone else ‘sets” the market
and you, as punter, pick and choose which anomalies
to take advantage of. It has interested us for a while
and the fact that the person who developed this keeps
writing about it, we thought we’d spend some time
seeing how it worked out.
The rules (as outlined above) did not unfortunately
specify 8 starters or more or if seven and less starters
were also acceptable, so we assumed it was for 8 starters
or more.
Accordingly, the results of our four day trial including
only runners with a minimum of 8 starters were as follows:
