Singapore Racing

Racing in Singapore was introduced in 1842 when a few young people enthusiastic about racing formed the Singapore Sporting Club. The first horse race that took place in the history of Singapore was in 1846 where the prize money that was decided upon was $150.
This led to the formation of the Straits Racing Association, which is now renamed as the Malayan Racing Association.

It was in the mid 1900s that the Singapore Sporting Club was renamed to Singapore Turf Club as the racecourse from then onwards would be used for the purpose of horse racing only rather than an array of activities like polo and aircraft landing.
From then on Horse Racing in Singapore became a significant part of the adventure and recreational field of Singapore.

Now located in Kranji, the Singapore Turf Club includes many prestigious racing championships like the $ 3 million Singapore Airlines International Club. Singapore Airlines International Club is one of the most prestigious international horseracing events in Singapore that attracts big names of horse racing world every year from different countries of the world.

Most of the horse racecourses in Singapore are well equipped with many outdoor screens, video screens and close circuit television monitors.
